It produces sweating. The word Swedana comes from the Sanskrit root sweda, which means to sweat, to perspire, to foment, to make soft. Sweda is an internal waste product of the body and is a by-product of Meda-fatty tissue. Swedana helps liquefy toxins that have accumulated deeply within the body and have stratified in peripheral tissues; the effect of swedana is to make them soft and liquid so that they are properly expelled from the body.
Sweating opens the pores and helps expel impurities through the sweat glands. Indications: colds, coughs (Kapha); headaches, paralysis, constipation (Vata); arthritis (Vata-Kapha). From an Ayurvedic perspective, cellulite depends on an imbalance of Kapha, a weakening of Meda Agni, the digestive enzyme system that coordinates the formation of Meda, the fatty tissue, and an imbalance of Vata.
Meda Agni works at the level of the subcutaneous tissue, and as a result, fat molecules that are not well metabolized settle under the skin along with Ama, the toxins that are the result of improper nutrition, digestion, and metabolism.
Vata imbalance stiffens blood and lymph vessels by not allowing proper oxygen exchange in tissues and drainage of waste products. Connective tissue also stiffens leading over time to the manifestation of the typical orange peel appearance.
Causes from the Ayurvedic perspective: lack of exercise (Aviyayama); afternoon sleep (Divaswapna); Kapha aggravating foods and lifestyles (Shlelshmala Ahara Vihara); excessive consumption of sweet foods (bread, pasta, cereals in general) (Madhura annaha); hormonal and emotional causes; weak Agni resulting in slow metabolism.
Other cause: drastic diets, fasting that weaken Agni and metabolism more resulting in aggravation of Vata leading to obesity.
Causes: sudden weight loss leads to imbalance of Vata and Kapha with formation of sclerotized tissue.
Vata: darker color of stretch marks, with dry, thin skin.
Kapha: color of whitish stretch marks with greasy skin and sometimes itching.
When the stretch mark is more recent, red or rosacea, there is still vascularization (Vata-Vyana), so tissue recovery is possible, otherwise it can still be toned and given more brightness.
Causes: due to aggravation of Vata, tissues become lax and lack tone.
The weakening of Kapha decreases structure and cohesion.
Strengthen Mamsa (muscle tissue), Rasa ( tissue nourishment), Rakta (circulation and oxygen exchanges).
The cause is imbalance of all the Doshas, with predominance of Pitta (Brajaka), blood (Rakta Dhatu) and skin to the point of acne.
Vata: small and painful boils
Pitta: red, medium with burning sensation
Kapha: oily, larger, with pus
Causes: aggravated Vata and weak Kapha cause closure of the srotas that nourish the skin.
Mental stress (Prana Vata) also causes dehydration of kapha resulting in imbalance of skin hydration.
Draining treatment.
Anti-cellulite treatment.
The purpose of the treatments is to revitalize Meda Agni, balance Vata resulting in improved circulation, and increase Apana Vata function to improve toxin disposal. The use of herbalized oils in the oiling stage is intended to balance all three Doshas, particularly Vata and Kapha. The medicinal plant powder mixed with the specific oil, used in the drainage phase, reduces fat and cellulite accumulation (Kapha-Meda Dhatu) improves blood microcirculation (Vata-Vyana), drainage (Vata-Apana) and enhances skin radiance and appearance (Pitta-Brajaka).
In the treatment, which also includes the heat application phase (anti-cellulite), the herbalized steam bath (Swedana) opens the srotas (channels) and increases blood flow, liquefies impurities hidden in the most minute channels and mobilizes them; relieves stiffness and coldness of the body (Vata) and heaviness (Kapha).
Slimming treatment.
Reducing treatment.
The purpose of the treatments is to increase cellular metabolism (Pitta-Pachaka), revive Meda Agni and increase Apana Vata function to improve the disposal of toxins and excess fat (Kapha-Meda Dhatu). In the oiling phase, a herbalized oil is used that pacifies mainly Pitta and Kapha resulting in catabolic and reducing action.
In the drainage phase, a mixture of medicinal plants that improve microcirculation and stimulate cellular metabolic activity (Meda Agni) is added to the oil.
In the treatment that also includes the heat application phase (REDUCING), the herbalized steam bath (Swedana) opens the srotas (channels) and increases blood flow, liquefies impurities hidden in the most minute channels and mobilizes them; relieves stiffness and coldness of the body (Vata) and heaviness (Kapha).
Anti-stretch mark treatment.
The purpose of the treatment is to improve the elasticity and structure of the epidermal tissue. By rebalancing the Vata Dosha, the resulting improved circulation (Vata-Vyana) allows deeper nourishment of the epidermis and proper tissue structuring (Kapha).
In the oiling phase, the use of the specific oil allows the goal of Dosha rebalancing to be achieved; the draining phase, thanks to the combination of the oil with the mixture of medicinal plants, stimulates microcirculation, speeding up the achievement of the result.
The treatment is indicated in the presence of recent vascularized stretch marks following rapid weight loss, postpregnancy, and in adolescence during the growth phase.
Not indicated in pregnancy .
Body firming treatment.
Breast firming treatment.
The purpose of the treatments is to reduce excess space and air (Vata) within the tissues, restoring tone, and to properly nourish Kapha to improve structure and cohesion.

Application of lepa (herbalized clay) to the affected areas intensifies the balancing action of Vata and Kapha.
The purpose of the treatment is to remove continuously renewing epidermal cells (Vata) and, through its detoxifying action, promote skin radiance (Pitta-Brajaka) and deep tissue nourishment and firmness (Kapha).
The mixture of specific oil and medicinal plant powders with exfoliating action also activates microcirculation (Vata) for better tissue oxygenation.
The purpose of the treatment is to give deep relaxation to mind and body, reactivating energy and vitality.
The action of specific oils, used for whole body massage, is related to the predominance of the Vata, Pitta or Kapha Dosha predominant at that time.
Shirodhara, a stream of warm herbalized oil slid over the forehead at the end of the massage, gives mental stillness and stability by relieving tension and stress.
Detoxifying facial treatment
The purpose of the treatment is to rebalance the Doshas through purification of obstructed Srotas (Channels), with fomentation of the face with medicinal plants with antiseptic and antibacterial action. This phase is followed by the application of a mask of herbalized white clay (bentonite), specific according to the prevalence of Vata, Pitta or Kapha. Bentonite absorbs toxins by bringing them to the surface, while simultaneously releasing minerals that rebalance the skin deeply.
The combination of plants in the mask leads to purification of the blood (Rakta Dhatu), one of the causes of blemishes, resulting in a sebum-normalizing action.
Revitalizing anti-aging treatment
The purpose of the treatment is to give nourishment, elasticity and firmness to the face and tone the supporting muscle tissue (Mamsa Dathu), through massage with a specific herbalized oil and fomentation with purifying herbs that open the Srota (channels) and consequently allow proper tissue nourishment.
Application of a specific mask made from white clay (bentonite) and medicinal plants restores firmness to tissues (Kapha) weakened by excess Vata (dryness).
Bentonite absorbs toxins by bringing them to the surface, while simultaneously releasing minerals that rebalance the skin deeply.
Sensitive skin treatment
The purpose of the treatment is to deeply pacify Pitta, the excess of which causes hypersensitivity and reactivity of the skin. Fomentation with purifying herbs that open the Srota (channels) allow fast dispersal of excess internal heat to the outside.
The application of a specific mask based on white clay (bentonite) and medicinal plants with refreshing and purifying action promotes brightness (Pitta-Brajaka) and firmness (Kapha) of the skin, reactivating the normal physiological functions of the skin.
Bentonite absorbs toxins by bringing them to the surface, while simultaneously releasing minerals that rebalance the skin deeply.
Firming facial treatment
The purpose of the treatment is to reduce excess space and air (Vata) within the facial tissues, restoring tone, and to properly nourish Kapha to improve structure and cohesion. Oiling with the specific oil allows Mamsa (muscle tissue) Rasa (tissue nourishment) Rakta (circulation and oxygen exchanges) to be strengthened.
Application of a specific mask made from white clay (bentonite) and astringent and nourishing medicinal plants restores firmness to tissues (Kapha) weakened by excess Vata.
Bentonite absorbs toxins by bringing them to the surface, while simultaneously releasing minerals that rebalance the skin deeply.
