PULSE DIAGNOSIS

Nadi Vigyan literally means “pulse reading” and is the oldest procedure for determining an individual’s psychophysical constitution and the state of balance or imbalance of the doshas.
“Dancing” in our bodies, Vata, Pitta and Kapha, create a rhythm that is deeply alive in our pulse-that is where we can perceive them most easily. Through the Nadi Vigyan it is possible to find out the status of the doshas, both in their aggravation and localization. Pulse diagnosis allows us to determine which of the doshas is responsible for our discomfort and then treat its rebalancing by applying the various systems described in Ayurveda.
For immediate understanding, the rhythm, amplitude and frequency of the pulse have been associated with animal movement since ancient times.

Imagining blood flowing in an artery, we can then, by “LISTENING,” perceive one dosha over another: Vata, with an irregular and empty flow; Pitta, with a regular darting flow; and Kapha, with a full and slow flow. The prevalence of one characteristic over another will give us the dominance or aggravation of the dosha.

Described in these terms, pulse diagnosis, it would seem to be a very simple method to acquire, but in reality the Nadi Vigyan turns out to be very complex to determine. A lot of perception sensitivity needs to be acquired.
In India, a great Vaidya (expert in Ayurveda) said that in order to feel the reality of a pulse and be certain of it, one must have the experience of feeling at least a thousand different pulses.

Ayurvedic Diagnosis

Medical examination is an encounter of Consciousness and Awareness between Physician and Patient
The Ayurvedic doctor will spend a long time listening to and understanding the patient, having empathy with him, so as to understand all aspects of possible imbalances in his physiology and not just the symptoms.

As long as it takes

The doctor will be able to ascertain the root causes of possible imbalances in physiology after a thorough examination, a long conversation, including genetic characteristics, daily routine, and eating habits.

After evaluating the medical history, he will perform the Pulse Diagnosis (Nady Vigyan), so along with the classical diagnosis, the Maharishi Ayurveda doctor will propose a proper Ayurvedic therapy suitable for the personal health condition.
