Our Manifesto

From doing to being – my journey at the Maharishi Ayurveda Center Lake Orta

I can recognize the exact moment when the life force thins out.
When everything continues to move, but something inside stops vibrating.
And I also know that there is a way to light up again.
My name is Tommaso Iuliano.
For years, I observed the world with silent attention, learning that what truly matters never shows itself on the surface. People, work, and daily dedication have taught me to distinguish between moving forward and living.

When living on autopilot

There was a time when everything worked.
I was efficient, reliable, present.
But I was not centered.

It is a subtle condition. It makes no noise.
It is not an obvious crisis; it is an inner distance.
The feeling of inhabiting a well-organized life, but not one that is fully felt.

I used to do extreme sports.
Endurance activities.
I pushed my body to the limit to feel alive.
I sought a contact with the absolute through physical perfection.

I felt invincible.
And in that strength, there was also an escape, even if I didn’t know it then.

Then a special event occurred.
One of those that do not ask for permission.
It stopped the outward race and brought my attention back to where I had stopped looking:
into my deepest being.

There, I understood a truth that cannot be delegated:
we ourselves are the architects of our healing and our happiness.
No one can do it for us.
Health, balance, and fulfillment do not come from the outside.
They are born from a choice.

An ancient law, ever alive

Ayurveda gave words to what I felt but did not yet know how to formulate.
The Charaka Samhita expresses it with disarming clarity:
The individual is the mirror of the universe.
All material and spiritual phenomena of the universe are present in the individual.
And everything that is in the individual is contained in the universe.
Thus the wise person perceives reality.

In this vision, nothing is separate.
Illness does not arise suddenly.
It begins when we lose contact with the laws of nature,
when we stop listening to our essential rhythm.

Giving shape to a vision

In 1998, this direction took shape in the Maharishi Ayurveda Center Lake Orta.
Not as a project, but as the natural evolution of a lived journey.

A space conceived as fertile ground.
A place where stopping is possible.
Where knowledge becomes experience
and sharing becomes nourishment.
Not an alternative to life,
but a point of balance from which to return to the world more present.

From doing to being

Ayurveda did not enter my life to add something.
It arrived to take away.
To lead me back to the essential.

Together with Patrizia, my wife, I encountered a vision of the human being in which body, mind, and spirit are not compartments, but a single language.
Yoga, Ayurveda, and awareness have become daily practice, lived experience.

I understood that a healthy life is not a matter of luck.
It is a gentle responsibility.
A direction that one chooses every day.

Today

Today, I take care of the invisible architecture that supports all of this.
Organization, communication, hospitality.
I hold vision and details together, because harmony is never definitive: it must be listened to, cultivated, and renewed.

Together with Patrizia, we safeguard a space that promises no shortcuts.

Our commitment

We accompany you.
Not to take you elsewhere,
but to help you return.
We do not sell an experience here.
We create silence.
Time.
Listening.
A space in which you can feel
who you are
and what moves you.
You arrive as a guest.
You depart closer to yourself.

The path of healing

by Patrizia Raiteri

With gratitude to Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, who made the purity and authenticity of Vedic knowledge accessible once again—ancient wisdom that illuminates the path toward health and harmony.

Since I was a child, I felt a silent but profound calling within me: to take care of people, to accompany them toward healing. It was not a choice of the mind, but something my soul seemed to have always known.

During my years in medical school, I clearly perceived that something essential was missing in care. One studies the body, one learns about diseases, but rarely is the most important thing taught: the human encounter between doctor and patient. It is precisely in that space of listening and presence that true healing can be born.

It was the people I met along the way who taught me this truth. Through them, I understood that healing does not only concern the body, but involves the heart, the mind, and the soul.

While I was searching for a medicine capable of embracing all this depth, Ayurveda entered my life like a long-awaited answer. In Vedic knowledge, I found something I intimately recognized: a vision of health as harmony between body, mind, and soul. Those were exciting years.

From this journey, the desire was born to create a place where people can rediscover their own healing, often veiled by the imbalances of life.

Thus, the Maharishi Ayurveda Center Lake Orta was born: a space dedicated to reconnecting with oneself and one’s health.

This dream was able to take shape thanks to my husband Tommaso, who shared the same feeling and vision with me, and thanks to our daughter Ginevra, whose presence has guided many of the most important choices of our journey since her birth.

To those who feel the call to live in harmony and health, I want to say this: the light you seek is not far away. It is already within you and is only waiting to be recognized: a space of silence, time, and listening, where stopping is possible and knowledge becomes experience.
